Colton heads home to direct

First 'The Wiz,' 'next stop Broadway'

When the ShenanArts production of "The Wiz" opens March 7, director Colton Berry will be back from Hollywood.

"I do have to hop back on that show," he said Friday, a day after being eliminated from "American Idol."

Berry was one of four contestants eliminated in the first semifinal round. But the Augusta County teen is hoping the experience will carry him to Broadway.

He said he's always had two dreams: to appear on "Idol" and to be on Broadway.

"I can check off my first one, and hopefully my first one will lead me into my second one," he said.

He said his dream role is Fiyero in "Wicked." Berry plans to start lining up Broadway auditions now that his "Idol" career has ended.
