Ohio has 'Idol' contestant to root for
Dayton Daily News
It's been a while since this part of Ohio has had a reality show contestant to root for, so it should be fun to get behind Garrett Haley, 17, a high school junior from Elida — a little town of about 1,900 people in Allen County, just a few miles northwest of Lima.
Sarah Burden, principal of Elida High, said the entire community is supportive and excited for Haley, but that's all she'd say.
"He apparently signed some sort of secrecy contract," she said, "and we've been told not to talk to any media at all. And we're not going to — we don't want to get him in any trouble or jeopardize his chances."
