Jessica OK After Pregnancy Scare

Singer spent New Year's Eve at a hospital near Tampa, according to TMZ.com.

While the rest of the world was toasting the advent of 2008 in the company of family and friends, "American Idol" alumna Jessica Sierra spent New Year's Eve at a medical facility in Brandon, Florida, according to a TMZ.com report.

The Web site claims Sierra, 22, was transported from her jail cell in Tampa to the nearby Brandon Regional Hospital, because staffers at the jail feared the singer would lose her unborn child. It was announced on December 20 that she is pregnant with the baby of a man who has not been identified.

According to TMZ.com, Sierra was suffering from "severe bleeding" before she was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Sierra and the unborn child are said to be doing fine.

The news follows on the heels of Sierra's Monday sentencing on charges of disorderly intoxication and obstruction of an officer. Sierra pleaded no contest to the charges, and, thanks to the judge's decision in her criminal case, will spend the next year in drug rehabilitation.

Sierra was further sentenced to two years of probation on the charges, which stemmed from a December 1 incident at a bar in Ybor City, Florida, during which the singer allegedly got into a heated confrontation with bar personnel and police after she was ejected from the establishment. The arrest violated Sierra's probation from an incident in April that resulted in charges of cocaine possession and felony battery, after she allegedly hit a bar patron in the head with a glass.

The judge also reportedly forbid Sierra from doing media interviews promoting the upcoming reality show "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew," which debuts Thursday on VH1. If she does not comply with the conditions of her sentence, she will be remanded to jail to serve a one-year sentence.

Coincidentally, Tuesday's news also comes on the same day Sierra released a five-song EP, called Deepest Secret, on iTunes.
