Monday, November 19, 2007 – Carrie Underwood received good news this morning as her current single, "So Small," reached number one on Billboard and R&R's country airplay chart. Thesong will take over the top of the charts, which will be officially released Thursday, from Dierks Bentley's "Free and Easy (Down The Road I Go)."
Co-penned by Underwood, Luke Laird and Hillary Lindsey, "So Small" becomes Underwood's first chart-topper as a songwriter and fifth single to go number one on country airplay charts.
"So Small" is the first release from the reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist's sophomore album "Carnival Ride," which recently hit number 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums and all-genre Billboard 200 charts with first-week sales of 527,101. "Carnival Ride" earned the best-selling first week of any country sophomore album since the inception of SoundScan as well as notched the largest country debut in digital album chart history, with digital sales of 44,928.
